16 Most Beautiful Places in Africa: A Guide to the Continent's Best Destinations

It's no secret that Africa is home to some of the most stunning places on Earth. From lush rainforests and dense wildlife populations to untouched landscapes and unparalleled cultural diversity, the continent is a treasure trove of natural beauty. But with so many incredible places to explore, it can be difficult to narrow down your list of must-see destinations. To help you out, here are 16 of the most beautiful places in Africa that you should add to your travel bucket list.

Tundavala - Perched on the edge of the Serra da Leba Escarpment in Angola, Tundavala stands at an impressive 2600 meters above sea level. The valley below drops 1200 meters and forms a huge abyss that channels into the Atlantic Ocean, making it one of the most important geological attractions in the province of Huíla and one of the most beautiful places in Africa.

Le Morne Brabant

- This majestic basaltic mountain rises to an altitude of 556 meters and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding lagoon. The top of the mountain also has steep slopes and caves that are a must-see for hikers, while climbers can enjoy exceptional views of Le Morne beach as they ascend.

Maletsunyane Falls - These are one of the highest waterfalls in Southern Africa, with waters plunging 196 meters (the Victoria Falls have a drop of 108 meters). The Maletsunyane Falls create an epic scene that looks like it was taken from a fantasy feature film.

Okavango Delta

- The jewel of the Kalahari desert is flooded at the beginning of the year and receives an enormous amount (11 cubic kilometers) of floodwater from the Angolan highlands. However, most of this water evaporates or is used by plants and is lost to the environment through perspiration.

A small amount flows into nearby Lake Ngami.

Giza

- Located near Cairo, Giza is a bustling tourist area but its activity doesn't diminish its magnificence. The Great Pyramid was built in 2650 BC with about 2.5 million limestone blocks, each weighing two tons. It's an impressive feat considering the basic technology available at the time.

Mount Tahat

- This is the highest peak in Algeria's mountainous region, rising 2,908 meters above sea level.

The area has spectacular volcanic cores, unique vegetation and wild animals, as well as being home to the Bedouin people. It's an exceptional place for hiking and enjoying rugged landscapes.

South Africa

- One of Africa's most developed and beautiful nations, South Africa stands out for its serene environment and magnificent attractions. It's also home to the Palace of the Lost City, one of the largest theme parks in the world.

Tanzania

- Tanzania is one of Africa's top tourist destinations for all types of travelers, including those traveling alone, newlyweds, families, friends and relatives. It's also a low-cost tourist destination that offers guests a variety of experiences.
