To help ease those worries, Bounce, the luggage storage application, conducted a study to determine the safest countries for women traveling alone. After analyzing more than 30 popular tourist destinations around the world based on eight different factors such as violence, discrimination, and gender inequality, they were able to rank the top 20 safest countries for women traveling alone.

At the top of the list is Norway, where an impressive 83% of women feel safe walking alone at night. It also ranked first with the lowest homicide rates and low crime rates overall. Spain came in second on the Danger Index for Women due to its high road safety and low legal discrimination and violence against women. Ireland is another great destination for women traveling alone due to its low levels of discrimination, gender inequality, and violence against women.

Great Britain and Northern Ireland also rank high on the list due to its low violent crime rate. France is another popular destination in Europe that is considered safe for women traveling alone. Although it ranks a little lower on this list due to its low score in gender inequality, it still has high regard for women's rights. Scandinavian countries are also known for their safe and progressive environment for women, with Sweden ranking a little lower due to its low score in sexual violence between people outside the partner and between intimate partners.

New Zealand is another great destination for adventure-seekers and nature-lovers alike. It is considered one of the safest countries in the world both for women traveling alone and backpackers due to its peaceful environment according to the Global Peace Index. The Philippines is also a safe destination for girls traveling alone due to its kind and hospitable people and English being one of its two official languages. Tanzania tops the list of the safest countries in Africa for women traveling alone due to its friendly locals and safe cities.

Poland is also incredibly safe, not only for women traveling alone but also other types of travelers. Even in the capital Warsaw, minor crimes are committed here and there but travelers will still feel relatively safe. No matter where you choose to travel, always use your best instincts and “street smarts” at all times to avoid being targeted by petty crimes.
